About Edith

I moved to Friendswood years ago to handle home sales for Buck Hausman and Ed Stuart. Lori Woods subdivision was the first subdivision in the community to be marketed by on-site sales. NASA was in the beginning stage and the Friendswood/Pearland area was attracting new employees coming from many areas of the country. Custom built homes were offered at $10.00 per sq. ft. including a nice sized lot and a larger wooded lot could be obtained for not much more.

At the time of my family's arrival, these two small communities had a major two lane asphalt road through town with drainage ditches on either side of the road. There were no stop signs or red lights in Friendswood. The streets were not yet named. Arden Hill was our police officer. Jim and Joyce Baker owned and operated the only grocery store and Lucky Carlisle had the Texaco Service Station. We had one restaurant and it was located at Clover Field Airport. The owner/operator was Perry Brown who also owned Clover Field. We did have a small post office but no mail delivery. We picked up our mail and visited with local residents every few days.

Pearland residents could drive up Telephone Road to shop in Houston. Those living in Friendswood could go through Pearland for shopping, or they might choose the Webster route to reach the Gulf Freeway. Another less chosen route was to cross a wooden low water bridge at FM2351, and immediately be on a dusty and rough shell road which meandered through the oil field and finally reached the Freeway. Or, how about driving Friendswood Link Road, also shell, to reach the Freeway?

For me, the major attraction provided by Friendswood was the small town, country atmosphere in which to raise my three sons. The school system was excellent and remains so to this day.

Since moving to Friendswood, I have been involved in real estate either as a broker, or a mortgage banker. Commercial and residential properties are my specialties. I am currently a member of the following organizations:

If I can be of service in selling or locating a property for you, please give me a call. As time permits, I'll be adding properties to my web site, so you might want to set a bookmark if you are interested in our area.
